Originally hailing from Vancouver, Canada, Brian Shields joined Coast Law Group as an associate attorney in 2010. He earned his Juris Doctor from the University of San Diego School of Law (2005), where he focused his studies on international environmental law and international trade and business law. He also earned his International Master of Business Administration from the University of San Diego (2007), with a focus on corporate sustainability.
Brian’s practice spans the areas of personal injury, insurance defense, business litigation, intellectual property, environmental litigation and action sports law. His current practice also includes enforcing California’s Proposition 65 to remove toxic chemicals from a wide range of consumer products.
Prior to joining Coast Law Group, Brian practiced in the areas of civil litigation, probate, and trusts and estates. He has also handled a number of pro bono immigration asylum cases as a volunteer attorney with Casa Cornelia Law Center, representing clients in the EOIR (Federal Immigration Court). Brian presently handles pro bono cases for the North County Family Violence Prevention Center.
In addition to the State Bar of California, Brian is also admitted to the United States District Court for the Southern District of California. He has traveled extensively over five continents and is conversant in Spanish, along with Italian and French.
