While cars become safer with each passing year, fires still regularly occur as a result of auto accidents or vehicle defects. Fire resulting from injury-producing collisions are a major concern as occupants may be slow to react or even trapped inside a burning vehicle.
The increasing popularity of electric vehicles presents unique burn risks. While fires associated with Tesla batteries have been the subject of much press attention in recent years, all battery operated vehicles, even e-bikes, present a potential fire hazard. Defective chargers and user errors have caused homes to burn while vehicles are charging in garages. Obviously, serious injuries, or even deaths, can result from a fire in a home or automobile.
